WINTER BREAK IN SUNNY GEORGIA, 3 days

Enjoy a short winter break in sunny Georgia with our tailored 3-day tours from Kutaisi! You will visit ancient monasteries, spend time in beautiful nature, and visit canyons and stalactite caves. You will choose one of three options for the third day of the trip, either a Day trip to the mountains with skiing, a Day tour to Tbilisi and the ancient capital Mtskheta, or Spending a day in Batumi by the Black sea.

TOUR PLAN

Day 1 Gelati monastery complex – Motsameta monastery – Bagrati cathedral – Kutaisi Old town We will start the day by exploring historical monasteries near Kutaisi, the UNESCO-protected 12th century Gelati monastery complex, the picturesque Motsameta monastery with a history from the 8th century. We will look at wall paintings from the 12th century and listen to legends about miracles in these sacred places. Continue to visit the 11th-century Royal Bagrati cathedral with its beautiful Caucasus mountains and Old Kutaisi panorama. We will walk in Kutaisi‘s old town, where we will listen to the legends about the ancient capital city of Colchis kingdom and the legendary journey of Argonauts searching for Golden Fleece.

Day 2 Kutaisi –Martvili canyon – Okatse canyon – Prometheus cave – Kutaisi This is the day for exploring nature. We will head to the Samegrelo region, where we will visit the beautiful Martvili canyon, we'll take a short boat ride through the canyon, and will continue to visit the majestic Okatse canyon. Here you'll walk on a spectacular hanging bridge above the canyon. Before returning to Kutaisi, we will stop at Prometheus stalactite cave, where will walk on a 1000 m. trail enjoying beautiful halls full of stalactites and stalagmites, and enjoying the special climate of the cave. In the evening we will return to Kutaisi.

Day 3 We offer to choose one from three options for the day:

I. Option: Kutaisi – Borjomi – Bakuriani ski resort – Kutaisi First we will drive to Borjomi mineral spring resort, where we will visit the famous 19th-century natural spring. We‘ll continue to Bakuriani ski resort, where depending on your preferences and weather you can either ski down from 2700m. pistes, go sledding or just take a Gondola lift up to the mountains for a spectacular Caucasian panorama (you can rent all ski equipment & clothing right here). After dinner at a traditional Georgian cuisine restaurant, we will head back to Kutaisi.
II. Option: Kutaisi – Jvari - Mtskheta & Svetitskhoveli– Tbilisi old town – Kutaisi We‘ll go on a historical tour, first, we will visit the 4th-century Jvari church with the iconic panorama of the confluence of two rivers. Here you will listen to the stories about the beginning of Christianity in Georgia & enjoy beautiful views. In the ancient capital, Mtskheta we will visit Svetitskhoveli cathedral, another important monument of Christianity in Georgia. We‘ll continue our tour to Tbilisi. We will start at Abanotubani sulfur bath district, where we will learn a legend of the "Tbilisi" name and visit Metekhi church with beautiful views of Narikala fortress and Europe square. We‘ll wander through the streets of Old Tbilisi, and enjoy its hidden gardens and balconies. In the evening come back to Kutaisi

III. Option: Kutaisi – Batumi old town – Batumi sea promenade – Batumi gondola lift - Kutaisi We will start our trip to the beautiful city of Batumi by the black sea. Upon arrival we‘ll take a walk in Batumi‘s old town, wander through the century-old Batumi sea promenade, we ll stop at the Alphabet tower, the moving sculpture Nino & Ali, and will visit picturesque Europe square. In the evening we‘ll take a gondola lift for the beautiful Batumi, the sea, and surrounding mountains panorama. We can not miss traditional Adjara region dishes, especially Adjarian boat-shaped khachapuri, even though you can try it in all of Georgia, it is the best by the sea. In the evening we‘ll come back to Kutaisi.
