A relaxed trip from Kutaisi, off the beaten path to Ushguli, one of the highest continuously inhabited villages in Europe. Imagine, 200 people spending harsh winters at 2100m., totally isolated from the world. You'll go there by 4x4 vehicle on the picturesque mountain road, will spend the night at the village and enjoy local Svanetian cuisine.

TOUR DETAILS

Day 1 Kutaisi – Ushguli – Lamaria church - King Tamar Castle - Ushguli In the morning Megobari Tours Georgia guide will pick you up at your Kutaisi hotel and you will start your beautiful trip to the mountains. You will go on the picturesque Kutaisi – Lentekhi – Ushguli road. In the afternoon you will arrive at one of the highest villages in Europe, Ushguli at 2100 m. where a few hundred people live all year round. You will visit the 9th-century Lamaria church with views of the highest Georgian peak – Mt. Shkara 5193m. Easy hike to the "King Tamar Castle" (4 km both ways). Overnight in Ushguli with traditional dinner.

Day 2 Ushguli – Shkhara glacier - Mestia Old town - Enguri Dam - Kutaisi After breakfast our guide will take you on 4x4 vehicle towards Shkhara glacier, you will do part of the route hiking, approx. 4 km both ways. It is optional to do this trip horseback riding. We will continue to Mestia, where we'll wander in the old town among Svan defense towers, listen to stories & legends about Svaneti. In the evening we will go back to Kutaisi, on the way we will stop at Enguri dam, one of the highest dams in the world. Drop off at Kutaisi hotel.
